Weekly News — 4 October 2026
Hello again everyone
October has arrived, the leaves are starting to turn, Autumn feels like it’s truly here (even with some perhaps unseasonably warm days!)
Many thanks to Mother Valerie for leading and preaching at the Mass last Sunday. Mother Jeanny will be leading the Harvest Mass at 10:30 this Sunday. Harvest is a time to give thanks to God for the ways He sustains us and to think about how we can help those who may be less fortunate.
We need non perishable donations for the Food Pantry, more information on that below - and also details about how you can support the Pantry financially. Please bring and give what you can on Sunday.
A reminder that Mother Sarah is back from honeymoon and in parish on 7 October. Information below for those who would still like to contribute to a wedding gift for her and Julian. I imagine she will be back in the newsletter hot seat next week so you may hear from her direct then about her travels in Sri Lanka…
Wishing you all a good weekend and week ahead.

Parish Office Manager

Camilla Newbegin will be in church on Sunday at the 10.30 Service for those who would prefer to donate by card or in cash.
A presentation will be made on their return.
Would you - or someone you know - value a safe supportive space to navigate loss and grief?
Feel very welcome to chat to Mthr Jeanny to find out more beforehand.
Monthly on Wednesdays, from 7th October, at 2-3pm.
We can of course feel a bit anxious or uncertain about these things - that’s very understandable - come and give it a try and be sure of a warm and supportive welcome. Light refreshments available.
All Souls’ List 2026
All Souls’ Day is a time for commemoration of the faithful departed. As in previous years, we will be reading the names of your loved ones during the evening service.
This will be on Sunday 1st November at 6pm, when we will be singing the Faure Requiem. The list of names will be displayed in church from Friday 9th October and will close on 26th October.
If you would like names of any loved ones to be added or removed from the list, please mark on the displayed sheet(s) alphabetically, or email felicity@hughmather.uk.
Thank you
It is effortless to donate money to St Barnabas! In fact, it is free!
By a quick download of the right gadget, each time you shop online most large retailers will send money our way.
A free advert for Uniqlo here, and a snapshot of Mthr Sarah’s online shopping…
Some of you will be doing this for schools, groups, and clubs. If so - ok! But if you’re not elsewhere, then please sign up. Sarah has raised £120 in the last 18 months ;)
Thanks to our grant from Ealing Deanery, we have now installed a defibrillator in the hall corridor/foyer for all users of the premises and their peace of mind.
Training will be provided to key people and onward training is possible. Please wait for further news.
You may like to take a look for it, so you know already where it is…
