Weekly News — 12 July 2026

As anticipated, St Barnabas is in its flurry of activities before the summer break.  We aim to be of service to the community around us.  Since I last wrote, we have hosted a wedding, 5 concerts and their rehearsals, as well as a full Sunday of three services and our weekly patterns of prayer, ministry and premises bookings. And a birthday party for Nick!

The civic life of the world around us has also been busy: I attended with James Murray MP the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast in Westminster Hall, and also enjoyed hearing about the work of Pitshanger Community Association at their AGM last night.  Both experiences overlapped with my encounter with the newly-elected Ealing Council as I led prayers before the opening of their Council Meeting and new electoral term.

Our national and civic life is tied up in our ministry - and this Sunday we will hear from Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter as we reflect on that work of the Gospel in which we share.

A thank you, in closing, for the Godly Play which last Sunday Children’s Church and Chatty Church celebrated with Mthr Jeanny at 10.30.  Please keep this in your prayers for the enrichment of young and old(er!) alike.

Pitshanger Pictures - Ealing Cinema Night

“The Blue Lamp” (84 mins) was a trend-setting police procedural the likes of which we are all very familiar with today. It introduced Dixon of Dock Green (Jack Warner) the character who went on to appear weekly in many of our homes from 1955 to 1976, 22 series. A particularly clever feat as in the film Dixon is killed in the first half hour or so!

The second film is “No Limit” (70 mins). This film stars George Formby and was made in 1936 by Associated Talking Pictures, the parent company of Ealing Studios. He plays the part of a chimney sweep aspiring to become a TT Motorcycle racer on the Isle of Man. It’s a comedy. The film is also shown every year at the TT races!

Ealing Flower Festival - Cinema in Bloom

Donations for Food Pantry

Please consider donating items from the list in church. Donations may be left after church on Sundays or during Food Pantry hours on Wednesdays. If you would like to give a monetary donation specifically to the food pantry, please mark your green envelope ‘Food Pantry’, or use this link.

Small amounts of fresh produce can be accepted ONLY when the Pantry is open on Wednesdays.

Sung Mass at 10:30 in person and online.  Noisy Mass; CC and Youth Groups run. We are joined by Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter as we hear about their work and how we might help address the human effects of Ealing’s housing crisis.
