Weekly News — 3 May 2026

Eastertide continues, and we are called to embrace this new life in all its challenges and joys, looking always for signs of the risen Christ in our midst, no matter how unexpected. Last week’s message highlighted such important parts of our church community that I think it bears a second reading (or so I say!):

As we approach our APCM (annual parish meeting), we can be joyful at the signs of energy and faithful love of this place and what it can be.  We have no fewer than 4 new nominated members of the PCC, one of whom is to be our new Treasurer and another to be churchwarden.  Also, two PCC members have extended their service by being deanery synod representatives in this important year for the CofE, alongside our third new rep. 

This is no ordinary annual meeting - it is (to borrow a phrase) a St Barnabas Ealing annual meeting.

Take a look below at the report which highlights all the parts of our church life - including many parts of it that you may not yet know anything about! You can ask to be put in touch with those who lead bits that interest you and that you might like to know more about or be part of - just let me know or email the office. Our finances are hugely improved on last year, but we still need to ask for your support to make all these parts of our collective life happen - PLEASE GIVE AS GENEROUSLY AS YOU CAN (the info is below).

This Sunday we will join in shared music and voice as we welcome Luca Wetherall to our community and shared life. You can read more about Luca on our website. Do stay on after Mass - or join from Noisy Mass - and have a chance to say hi.

We welcome the Revd Jeanny Wang in mid May onwards in her 3rd year of curacy. We will be delighted to have Jeanny with us for just under a year, and are excited to be encouraged in new ways in our faith through her gifts. Jeanny has in particular a passion for enabling children’s spirituality through Godly Play, which will be a blessing to revive at St Barnabas.

Celebrate Ascension Day with vicarage garden sparkling drinks, and Mass for 30 mins beforehand.

Thursday 14 May, mass at 7pm in the church, drinks follow straight after at 7.30.

Please note, this will be drinks only, so do eat before you set out!

Garden Team - and No Mow May and the Nature Count

We meet this Saturday for our monthly work out!  Ginger beer is ordered. As it’s the start of No Mow May, the two lawns won’t be cut during May allowing the insects to benefit from the flowers and grasses.

Count on Nature

This year is from Saturday 6 June when we will survey plants, insects and birds in the church grounds. Last year we had 10 volunteers so we would like more as it makes it easier to have more help. gardenteam@barnabites.net

Newcomers Vicarage garden party - Saturday 20 June, 2-5pm.  All those who are new in the past year, or missed last year, or are not so new but feel it - WELCOME!

Donations for Food Pantry

Please consider donating items from the list in church. Donations may be left after church on Sundays or during Food Pantry hours on Wednesdays. If you would like to give a monetary donation specifically to the food pantry, please mark your green envelope ‘Food Pantry’, or use this link.

Small amounts of fresh produce can be accepted ONLY when the Pantry is open on Wednesdays.
