Warmest greetings for Lent,

We look forward as every year to greeting Palm Sunday with our procession for the Liturgy of the Palms and then the Mass in church.  Do note that this Sunday the clocks change and we lose an hour!  Come to church and collect a service sheet and hymn book before making your way to the Village Inn.  If you prefer to stay in church, the Liturgy of the Palms will be observed there too, led by Mthr Valerie.

A couple of other notices:

Harry ends his time as Director of Music on Easter Day.  This Sunday (Palm Sunday) there will be drinks after the service for Harry.   Everyone welcome to come and thank him and wish him well.  The link for contributions to his leaving gift is below.

Good Friday Walk of Witness - come and join us on the Walk, starting St Barnabas at 9.30.  PLEASE if you are walking, would you consider being a steward?  Please let me or John Newbegin know if you can - it is a straightforward job, clearly explained on the day.

Harry Guthrie ends his role as Director of Music on 5 April 2026. He joined us on Ascension Day 2023, and over the past three years, he has revolutionised our choir and brought joy back into singing choral music. Regular Sunday evening Choral Evensongs feature on the calendar, and we now sing psalms set to Anglican Chant each Sunday morning. We have sung a wide range of mass settings by Haydn, Mozart, Duruflé and Darke, as well as a very broad range of anthems, both ancient & modern. A particular highlight has been the introduction of some contemporary female composers’ works. Harry led a very successful ‘Come & Sing’ event in 2025 and last month the choir took part in a superb joint concert with Ealing Junior Music School Adult Chorale. Above all, we have been a happy band of choristers under his leadership, and it has been immensely enjoyable. He will be missed enormously. His last service will be the Easter Sunday Mass at 10.30am on 5 April 2026. We are collecting donations for a farewell gift. You can make an online donation here.

You can join anytime, by completing this form and dropping it into the Parish Office letterbox.

Being on the electoral roll can make a difference with school applications, as well as being a part of our belonging and commitment within our Christian faith.

Questors Reminiscence Roadshow at Memory Cafe on Thursday 26  March “Home is…”; recollections of the Windrush era arrival in Ealing and West London.  Everyone welcome 10.30-12.

Palm Sunday 29 March The procession will begin from outside the Village Inn.  Please come and collect a service sheet, palm cross and hymn book from the Welcomers table first.  If you are not able or prefer not to stand and walk, then please take your seat in church, and the Liturgy of the Palms will be led by Mthr Valerie, with a chance to participate fully.  The two places of worship will combine as choir and procession arrive in church.

EASTER WEEKEND FOR THE FAMILY

For young people we have a number of exciting things happening - please contact Ministry Team for more information.  All timings listed on the poster below.

Good Friday - children’s workshop with crafts and a short Good Friday prayer-based service

Saturday morning - building the Easter Garden - from 10am.  We have some families signed up to create the garden this year - thank you!  Children still welcome for church cleaning ;)

Saturday morning - before Church Cleaning, a short Morning Prayer (15 Mins) for all at the High Altar, as we recall Christ descending to Hell and saving those who have gone before. Prayer with art and touchy-feely objects, for all.

We have appointed a new Director of Music: Luca Wetherall. After many hours of consideration of our strong field of applicants, and after a full day of interviews and auditions (with the choir), the Panel reached its recommendation which PCC has agreed.  Luca is currently director of music at St Mary’s Acton, where he built up their music from modest beginnings, and also St John the Baptist Holland Road W14.  We look forward to him joining us, first Sunday on Sunday 3 May.

 

 

 

Donations for Food Pantry

Please consider donating items from the list in church. Donations may be left after church on Sundays or during Food Pantry hours on Wednesdays. If you would like to give a monetary donation specifically to the food pantry, please mark your green envelope ‘Food Pantry’, or use this link.

Small amounts of fresh produce can be accepted ONLY when the Pantry is open on Wednesdays.

Forward Look - coming dates

 

Sunday 3 May 10.30 - first Sung Mass with our new Director of Music.  First Sundays will be led musically by Luca onwards - we will indicate the shape of them in due course, as that work evolves over the spring and summer months.

Ascension Day - 7pm Thursday 14 May - a short (30mins) Said Mass, with a hymn, followed by drinks in the Vicarage garden. All are welcome

APCM Sunday 17 May, 12.15pm - in the Large Hall

Newcomers Vicarage garden party - Saturday 20 June, 2-5pm.  All those who are new in the past year, or missed last year, or are not so new but feel it - WELCOME!
