Music

Music plays an integral part in the worship at St Barnabas. We are fortunate to have a well-established and thriving choir that leads our musical offering and help us encounter God in our collective worship.  Our Director of Music, Luca Wetherall, directs our choir and leads collaboratively all our musical offering, together with our committed voluntary musicians and our paid choral scholars.

The Choir of St Barnabas’ Church, Ealing

Our choir spans a wide age range, and includes those with significant musical experience, alongside newer and younger singers (singers in their 20s and teens are regular members).  The choir has two paid choral scholars.  Our repertoire is rooted in the Anglican choral tradition and the choir sings at the Mass every Sunday at 10.30am, either a sung mass or leading a congregational mass setting, as well as leading hymns and offering a sung psalm and a communion anthem. In advance of Mass, the choir rehearses from 9.30am. The choir also sings for other additional festivals and for Choral Evensong. If you are interested in joining, or would like some more information about the choir, please email music@barnabites.org

Choral Singing for Children and Young People

We welcome children keen on choral singing to join our Choir.  We have sopranos aged 10-17 years, many of whom are encouraged by their school to gain experience of liturgical singing with us.  Our young people join choir rehearsals every Sunday before Mass 09.30-10.15am and sing with the Choir at Mass on Sundays as well as at Evensong. This singing opportunity is open to young people aged 10 years upwards. If your child would like to join or you would like more information, please contact the Director of Music (music@barnabites.org).

We aim to offer music-making in children's Sunday worship growing their encounter with the divine.  This is in the process of being built up, through the support of children's church leaders and our music team.
