Giving Campaign 2022

The harvest is plentiful but…

On Sunday 18 September we launched a 5-week giving campaign. Each week we will be exploring an aspect of building a stable and flourishing suburban church with God in the suburbs of London. See themes below.

At present, St Barnabas is a story of two worlds - a vibrant, growing and impactful local church BUT we have serious financial challenges and an overstretched group of committed volunteers. Our central theme is the promise of Christ “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few” (Luke 10:2). The “but” is the hinge on which intention turns into action. To see that God’s harvest is abundant is wonderful BUT this will remain dormant hope unless our faith is embodied.

So crucially, this campaign will prod each and every one of us with the question: how can I offer my time, talents and treasure as we join God to build a better world? This is why we are asking every parishioner to complete a pledge form. Click on the button below to fill in yours online or email vicar@barnabites.net if you’d like to do it on paper.  You may want to join the parish giving scheme immediately.

Three hard truths about giving

Fr Justin and Jill Dodd share their giving testimony. They outlined 3 hard truths about giving within the Christian community:

  1. Long standing and typically older members have more than done their bit and continue to be very generous
  2. There is no secret money tree in the Church of England
  3. Everyone must give
