Kokila Gillett commenced her violin studies at Junior Guildhall, where she won the 2001 Lutine Prize and was a scholar at the Purcell School . She won a scholaraship to the Royal College of Music, studying with Felix Andrievsky and graduated with first class honours in 2006. She has won several prizes at the RCM and elsewhere, and performed at prestigious venues in London and elsewhere, including the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall, and played on Channel 4. In October 2004, alongside duo partner Pavel Timofejevsky, Kokila was filmed and recorded for the soundtrack of the TV Biographical film "Tchaikovsky". Over the last year, Kokila has been combining a career of recital performing, leading Skolia Symphony orchestra, freelance orchestral work and teaching. She studies with pedagogue Simon Kuhn.
