The Badke Quartet, formed in 2002, is widely recognised as one of Britain 's finest string quartets. Winners of the 1st prize and audience prize at the 5th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2007, the Badke Quartet has received widespread acclaim for its energetic and vibrant performances. The Quartet has worked with some of the world's greatest string quartets. and all four musicians are graduates of London 's Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music. From 2005 to 2009 the Quartet held the Senior Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship at the RAM. The quartet regularly performs at festivals in the UK and abroad, including the Aldeburgh and Verbier Festivals, Belfast Festival at Queen's, Chichester Festivities and the London String Quartet Week. The Quartet has performed in some of the UK 's most prestigious chamber music venues including the Wigmore Hall, St. George's Bristol , St. David's Hall Cardiff, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, St. John's Smith Square , and the Royal Festival Hall. Last year they performed in Vienna , at the Verbier Festival, and this year will make their Concertgebouw debut in Amsterdam and record their first CD. They have made several broadcasts, and will perform Mendelssohn's Octet with the Brodsky Quartet on BBC Radio 3 later this year. They are grateful to the Hattori Foundation, Musicians' Benevolent Fund, Nicholas Boas Charitable Trust, Fidelio Charitable Trust, Tillett Trust and several private sponsors for their continued support. They play on a fine set of instruments on loan from the Royal Academy of Music. The quartet comprises Heather Höhmann (nee Badke) & Emma Parker (violins), Jon Thorne (viola), Jonathan Byers (cello).

Graham Caskie (piano) was born in Yorkshire in 1967 and studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Music under Frank Wibaut, Hamish Milne and Alexander Kelly, and won all of the major prizes at both institutions. An experienced concerto soloist, recital pianist and chamber musician, he has also broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. He currently teaches at the Royal Academy of Music and The Yehudi Menuhin School. He is a keen advocate of contemporary music, and has had many works written for him. His recent CD release of Preludes by Debussy and Stephen Goss has received considerable critical acclaim. He and the Badke Quartet will shortly record the Chopin piano concerto no 1. He is married to pianist Yoriko Wakabayashi and they live in Ealing with their two children.

   

Location : St Barnabas church is on the corner of Pitshanger Lane and Denison Road , in North Ealing. Its postcode is W5 1QG. Parking is always available on neighbouring streets, and there are no meters or residential parking schemes. The nearest tube stations are Ealing Broadway (on the Central and District Lines) and Hanger Lane (on the Central Line). From Ealing Broadway, use the E2 or E9 bus services. Taxis are also available outside Ealing Broadway tube station. The church is a 15 minute walk along Brunswick Road from Hanger Lane tube.
