All about our concerts...Friday Lunchtime ConcertsWe hold concerts every Friday lunchtime at 1pm , with superb musicians playing wonderful music for about 45 minutes. We aim for a very high standard of performance. We are fortunate in having a beautiful Bosendorfer concert grand piano, which was formerly used by the BBC for broadcasts. The concerts are held 'in the round', with the piano in the middle of the nave, and the audience arranged around the musicians, to heighten everyone's involvement and enjoyment. . The concerts are free with a retiring voluntary donations, and no tickets are required. About 70-100 people usually attend, and all proceeds go towards the St Barnabas Organ Appeal. So come along - you will be very welcome. Click here for the list of forthcoming concerts, and here for the archive of previous lunchtime concerts since they commenced in September 2007. St Barnabas Thursday Evening Piano RecitalsThis new series will comprise 6 concerts, spread throughout 2010, featuring exceptional pianists playing popular repertoire. Further details will follow, but the provisional programme is : 21st January - Viv McLean
Piano Festivals :We present the St Barnabas Chopin Festival , held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth, on Saturday /Sunday February 27/28th. We will also have a Schumann festival on Saturday/Sunday June 5th and 6th at our companion venue, St Mary's Perivale, with much of Schumann's piano music, as well as chamber music and lieder. These ambitious events follow on from our Beethoven Sonata Festival, held on Saturday/Sunday Feb 28th/ March 1st 2009, when 32 pianists played all the Beethoven piano sonatas in succession, and our Haydn Sonata Festival on Sunday May 31st 2009, when 23 pianists played 23 Haydn sonatas.
