All about our concerts...
We hold concerts every Friday lunchtime at 1pm , with superb musicians playing wonderful music for about 45 minutes. We aim for a very high standard of performance. We are fortunate in having a beautiful Bosendorfer concert grand piano, which was formerly used by the BBC for broadcasts. The concerts are held 'in the round', with the piano in the middle of the nave, and the audience arranged around the musicians, to heighten everyone's involvement and enjoyment. . The concerts are free with a retiring voluntary donations, and no tickets are required. About 70-100 people usually attend, and all proceeds go towards the St Barnabas Organ Appeal. So come along - you will be very welcome. Click here for the list of forthcoming concerts, and here for the archive of over 120 previous lunchtime concerts since September 2007.
We held the inaugural St Barnabas Summer Proms from Monday July 21st to Friday August 8th 2008, with 11 concerts - 9 evening and 2 lunchtime - featuring well-known local musicians playing popular masterpieces by famous composers. This was a huge success, providing perfect musical entertainment for enjoyable summer evenings. We repeated the festival in 2009, with the same format, from Monday July 20th to Friday August 7th.
